If you’re eager to take a fresh look at your Instagram in 2018 and give it an extra boost, there’s a world of brilliant Instagram marketing tools and apps out there for you. Whether you want to refine your photos with an easy-to-use editing app, plan the overall look and layout of your feed, or track your analytics more closely (without spending too much time on it!), you’ll find something to tick those boxes below.
So then, check this out:
10 Instagram Marketing Tools to Use in 2018
Instagram content creation tools:
Canva is a great tool for designing your Instagram posts in a matter of seconds. You can select the format of the content you want, with ‘Instagram Post’ being one of the preset templates. Then, you can choose a ready-made design, or simply drag and drop your own image into Canva and edit it as you wish. Image needs a logo or text overlay to make it pop? No problem! If you don’t have the skills of a designer to hand, and need to get that post out fast, Canva has you covered!
Who doesn’t love a good Boomerang? The app, which was actually created by Instagram, allows you to capture short videos which loop back and forth when played. All you need to do is choose your subject, press the button, and let Boomerang do all the work. The app shoots a burst of 10 photos and turns them into a fun video that you can share straight away, or save to your camera roll for later.
Instagram photo editing apps:
Whitagram is already a classic app for editing Instagram photos, but if you haven’t heard of it before, you’ve definitely seen photos that have gone through Whitagram first. You know those elegant white borders or backgrounds you’ve seen on those posts popping up in your feed? Yep, that’s done with Whitagram! You can change the size of the border to create a custom look, and you can also edit your photos inside the app as well. Simple but effective!
VSCO is a great tool for editing photos and making them look really professional. You can choose from a range of preset filters (you can upgrade to a paid account for access to the full selection), or you can edit your photos by changing the brightness, exposure, clarity, and so on. VSCO is also a community for creators, much like Instagram, where you can share your photos and engage with content from others around the world. So, the tool is perfect for creating high-quality images for Instagram, but it’s also much more than that. Who said you couldn’t be part of both communities?
Developed by Google, Snapseed is an image retouching tool that lets you transform your photos with loads of great features. You can add effects to your photo to draw attention to certain elements or change the ‘mood’ of the photo, as well as fixing skewed lines and even removing things from the photo that bug you (like that pile of clothes on the floor in your selfie, or, say, that ex who you’d rather forget). Features such as lens blur and double exposure make this one of the most comprehensive photo editing apps out there!
6. A Color Story
OK, so I have included quite a few editing apps already, but this list wouldn’t be complete without A Color Story. Rather than offering standard filters, the app allows you to enhance the colors captured in your photo by bringing out bright whites and rich color. You can save your own customisation preferences for use again and again, allowing you to build a uniform Instagram feed full of complimentary images. There are also over 40 cool effects to try out, including flares, fogs and blend mode, to take your images to the next level.
Instagram planning and scheduling tools:
LA-based UNUM has really taken off since it was founded in 2016. UNUM allows you to store your favorite Insta-worthy photos and visually plan your Instagram by adding your selected photos to your existing grid (imported from Instagram itself). You can move your images around and hide ones which don’t fit aesthetically to see what looks best before you commit to posting your new images to Instagram. As UNUM says itself, “UNUM is a beautifully designed, simple-to-navigate, feature-filled tool” and this is pretty much spot on. The best feature is definitely the feed-planner, but you can also use UNUM to plan your captions, edit your photos, and create, store, and copy any tags, hashtags, or usernames to post in your caption or comments.
You weren’t expecting me not to mention Iconosquare, were you? Iconosquare allows you to leverage industry-leading analytics and tools to grow your business on Instagram (and now also on Facebook too!). You can track your Instagram analytics in depth, manage comments and conversations, plan your feed, schedule your Instagram posts and discover influencers, to name just a few things. Iconosquare is an official Instagram partner and is one of the first (and best, of course) Instagram and Facebook analytics suites. Out of all Instagram marketing tools this is obviously my favourite, but you can see how it works for yourself if you sign up for a free trial 😉
Instagram shoppability tools:
You’ve probably heard about how shoppable Instagram content is a trend to look out for in 2018, and you might have also thought about making the most of it yourself. If you’re an e-commerce business, it makes perfect sense to utilize the opportunity to make your products directly shoppable via your Instagram. There’s just one problem: currently, Instagram only supports shoppable tags on posts for selected U.S. based Business accounts. The good news, though, is that you can still make your feed shoppable with Like2Buy. All you need to do is connect your product feed, feature content and we auto-generate a link in your bio to let your customers shop.
Tools for Instagram ads:
Last but certainly not least is AdEspresso. I actually love using this for created Instagram and Facebook ads as it’s so much easier to navigate and manage campaigns than Facebook Ads Manager or Power Editor. You can A/B test your ads to find out which are performing best and which ones you should switch off. AdEspresso will even tell you which are your best performing ads based on your campaign goal, which saves you time and effort. So, if you’re ready to get serious about Instagram advertising, give it a go!
And that’s a wrap! I hope you enjoy testing out these tools and giving your Instagram the care and attention it deserves, whether you’re beautifying your visuals or refining your strategy. Know any other Instagram marketing tools that should be on this list? Let us know in the comments below!
