Instagram has started to release their advertising platform to markets around the world since the 30th of September.
This means that everybody with an Instagram account can now advertise their sponsored posts, including small businesses.
We will show you how you can create your 1st Instagram advertisement very easily.
Please note that Instagram Advertising Campaigns are still being rolled out in various countries. This is why it does not show up on your Power Editor.
To get you prepared on how to create your ads, an article explaining the different Instagram advertising policies was published a few weeks ago.
To set up a new Instagram ad campaign, you need to go to “Facebook Power Editor” which is “a tool designed for larger advertisers who need to create lots of ads at once and have precise control of their campaigns” and anybody who wants to create an ad.
Everything goes through the Facebook Power Editor. If you want to create Facebook ads or Instagram ads, you need to go through the Power Editor.
How to create an Instagram advertisement
First of all, in order to create ads on Instagram, you need to have a Facebook Business Page.
1) Once on your Facebook Business Page, you need to link your Instagram account with your Facebook Business Page.
- To add an existing Instagram account to your Facebook Page:
1 – Go to your Facebook Page
2 – Click Settings in the top-right of your Page
3 – Click Instagram Ads
4 – To add an existing Instagram account to your Page, click Add an Account.
5 – Enter your Instagram account’s Username and Password, and click Next.
If you have a Business Manager account, here’s how to add an Instagram account:
1 – Go to your Business Manager.
2 – On the left side of the page, click Business Settings > Instagram Accounts.
3 – Click Claim New Instagram Account.
4 – Add your username and password, then click Next.
5 – To authorize one or more of your ad accounts to use the Instagram Account, check the box next to each ad account and click Save Changes.
You are now set to create and publish an Instagram Advertising campaign
– You must associate your CTA (Call To Action) to a website URL and not your Instagram account
When creating an advertising campaign, you can choose the placement.
– First things first, you will need to create a campaign in the Power Editor.
In order to have your advertisement on Instagram, you will need to chose an Ad objective that supports Instagram ads.
– Once the campaign created, you will need to create an ad set
– Last but not least, once the ad set is created, you will need to create “your ad”
When everything is done, just click on “Upload Changes” on the upper part of your screen. Facebook will review your advertisement campaign and will notify once it is approved.
